Mission: The Jimmy Buffett Studies Association seeks to unite academics, researchers and fans interested in research that hope to negotiate the ideals, concepts, fandom, friendship and fun that is the Margaritaville lifestyle. Jimmy Buffett and his music stand for freedom of choice, freedom of vacation and freedom of happiness. We promote the academic exploration of Island Life in the US, Parrothead Fan Studies, Lyrical and Literary Analysis of Buffett and his contemporaries, Coastal Environmental Awareness Studies and much more. This association seeks to unite scholars from all fields in an attempt to more formally explore the impact of one man's music on American culture (and beyond). Through our academic discourse of the Parrothead lifestyle, we will also use our resources as academics to keep our seas clean, safe and beautiful.
The Jimmy Buffett Studies Association is seeking charter members to get the organization off the ground. Once our charter membership is formed, we will create bylaws together, formulate a hierarchy and begin planning an online peer-reviewed journal and an annual conference.
